The 3 Second Rule…..

Ruby’s story……..

It’s too hot for me to go out during the day at the moment, so my walks are either first thing in the morning or last thing in the evening and days are spent mooching around in the garden.

Mum read something a couple of days ago that said if you put your hand on the ground for 3 seconds and you feel the heat, then it’s too hot for us pooches to walk on.

With the 3 second rule in mind, mum suggested buying me a little pair of sandals ….. thankfully dad put a stop to that as soon the words left her mouth. Thank goodness I can still rely on him.

I’m not a dog who likes being dressed up, I will just about tolerate a pair of antlers at Christmas, just because it’s Christmas!   But I don’t even like wearing my coat when its pouring with rain and snow and -5 degrees in the middle of winter. They literally have to wrestle me out from under the table to get it on me, then I spend the whole time whilst I am out rubbing against walls and fences trying to get it off. I come back from my walk looking like I’m wearing a tramps vest, all mucky and holey.

So, in this hot weather mother, no sandals, no bootees and definitely no flip flops…. and that includes you mum. The last time she took me out wearing flip flops, I darted after a cat, she slipped over, came out of her flip flops and fell flat on her face and then had  to walk home with grazed knees, cut hands, wearing one flip flop and carrying the other, although it was only a flip by know, the flop had snapped off when she fell. How embarassing.
