Boot Camp

Ruby’s story……………..

Welcome to the first day of Boot Camp friends….. this is going to end in tears.

The pawrents have been invited to a wedding at the end of August and mum, has decided that she is going to wear a dress that she has only worn once before, several years ago. The problem with said dress friends, is that the dress is size 12 and my mum isn’t.

So encouraged by dad, but I think he has an ulterior motive, being that if she slims into something that she already owns, she won’t have to buy anything new, thus saving money. Anyway encouraged by dad and his ulterior motive, she had gone on a diet.

Its been salad all weekend and fruit for breakfast……. it was even discussed with her friend over a glass of wine at the weekend (wine is OK, grapes are good, part of your 5 days, yeah, yeah, how many times are we going to hear this over the next 8 weeks). It was discussed that they would even start running, although mum said no hills !!

Running could be a good thing, seeing as the 5k muddy dog challenge is fast approaching and not one step has been run by my mother. But I would hasten to say friends, the running was only discussed, and decided that this week wasn’t good, maybe next week or possibly the week after. You can see where this is going.

So friends our house has now become Boot Camp all food is healthy food and running will commence shortly……….

As for the dress friends, I think that it will be back in the wardrobe and a shopping trip on the cards…. wish me luck over the next 8 weeks friends, I’m going to need it.

Mum’s story……………..

So my friend is getting married at the end of August and I’ve decided to wear a dress that I actually last wore, or should I say have only ever worn, at my own 40th birthday trip to the races. It is a lovely dress, but no occasion has arisen since that I could wear it (my life now revolves around wearing wellies and rain coats and having my hand bag of choice, a full poo bag, swinging from my arm).

The problem with said dress is that it’s a size 12, and its been that long ago since I wore it, I, unfortunately, am not. So its been decided, with a lot of encouragement from the other half, that I should go on a diet. I must say the encouragement from the other half is pretty full on, anyone would think that he had an ulterior motive.

So the supermarket shop this week was a change to the usual shop. This shop was full of salad stuff, fruit and healthy nibbles and that is what the weekends meals have consisted of. I even agreed with my friend at the weekend, over a glass of wine. Wine is allowed, its grapes part of your 5 a day and all that, plus you can’t deprive yourself of everything or you’ll never stick to a diet. Well we decided that we would start running also But not this week, we are both a little busy with other things this week, next is looking a bit full also, so possibly the following week, we’ll see how the weather is. But we do have to start sometime the 5k muddy dog challenge that I was “forced”, sorry agreed to, is fast approaching.

So there you have it friends for the next 8 weeks, my body is a temple and only healthy options will pass my lips. I will get into the dress for the wedding, but there will be another shopping trip on the cards, I do need something new for the hen do.
