Ruby’s story………
This is the face that you pull when it’s 5.00 am in the morning and you’ve just been woken up from your slumber by your mother.
OK, she’s has caught me out this morning and has woken up before me. She’s now crashing around in my bedroom (the kitchen) making cups of coffee….. how rude!
It’s a different story when I wake her up, then it’s all moan and groan and “do you know what time it is”. But when it’s her that’s up first it’s, kettles on, radio on, “come on Ruby, get up”. The only thing that she’s not doing is flinging open all the windows and inviting the birds in, whilst whistling a merry tune, like some demented Mary Poppins!
Honestly friends, I don’t know what this is all about… she’s going to work, its only Tuesday and it’s raining ?? What has she got to be so happy about at this early hour.
Then, that’s it, this is final straw, she’s just given me a big sloppy kiss right on the top of my head…… “Geroff mother”….. I’m the only one allowed to be that happy and lively at this time on a morning, and even this is too early for me.
Don’t worry friends…. with this much happiness and good moods at this time on a morning, she’ll have tired herself out by 7.30am and will be back to her grumpy self, and just wait until tomorrow morning, I’ll get her back and lets see how Mary Poppins is feeling then.
Mum’s story…………
Well I woke up this morning bright and early with a spring in my step. I’d had a good sleep and finally feel fully recovered from the holiday. I know, you’re supposed to come back from holiday feeling refreshed, but you try going on holiday with a lively Labrador and you’ll never complain about your work again. Only joking !
Well for once I was downstairs and in the kitchen and Ruby was still snoring her bed, I put the radio on and managed to make a cup of coffee before she even stirred, I felt so awake I nearly opened the windows just to hear the bird song…. well I would have done if it wasn’t bucketing down !
When she did finally stir, this was the face that I was welcomed with, Mrs Grumpy, I spend 364 days of the year being woken by her, and she is always greeted with a happy smile a fuss and a belly rub, and this is what I get. Rude.
I don’t really know what it was that made me want to jump out of bed and “get up and at em” this morning, after all, despite my comments made above I do have to go to work, it is only Tuesday and it is pouring down with rain. But whatever it is, I’ll make the most of it, because I know that tomorrow morning I’ll be woken from my slumber by a barking Labrador.
Anyway, all this good mood and happiness is now getting a little bit tiring…… pass me another coffee……..
