Possibly The Best Beach..

Ruby’s story………….

Yesterday we went to possibly the best dog friendly beach that I have ever been too. Still on our holidays in Pembrokeshire they took me to Freshwater East Bay. It was a little walk from the car so it gave me enough time to get sufficiently overexcited and puffing like a steam train when we finally got down to the beach.

As soon as I got onto the beach, I was off my lead and off I went running as fast as my little legs could carry me right down to the sea……… it was actually a little further than I anticipated as the tide was out, so by the time I got down there I was exhausted.

As soon as I got down there two other pooches who were already splashing around in the sea came charging over to me. I don’t mind one dog, but when a couple come rushing over to me I get a little bit intimidated and I was still getting my breath back from my marathon run.    But it’s OK, because mum and dad are just here, right behind….. erm… mum and dad…. mum and dad where are you. Oh no, I left them behind at the top of the beach in my excitement to get to the sea, they’re miles away. Oh well, I’m on my own here with these two, there’s nothing for it, I’ll just have to go into full submissive mode and lay flat on my belly, while these two have a good old sniff round me. They soon got bored with my laying down as stiff as as a board pose and moved on to someone more exciting who joined in with their chasing game, and I was left alone to carry on with my exploring.

I was left happily to my snuffling about. I found a couple of jelly fish, which I had a sniff of but I thought I’d leave them today, because a big stick soon caught my attention. We then had a good game of dad throwing a stick into the sea and me bringing it out and dropping it as his feet. This went on for a while until, mum told dad he was throwing the stick too far for me and I was going in too deep, so they had words and the game was stopped. Yet again Mrs Spoilsport steps into spoil all the fun.

This beach really is amazing, there is so much space for me to run around and splash in the sea……. the only trouble is it’s so clean, I can’t get up to any mischief, picking up and eating rubbish which is usually my favourite pastime  which is the only shame for me…..

Mum’s story………….

We took Ruby to Freshwater East Beach yesterday. It had been recommended to us by someone who had been before, and what a recommendation it was. I think it could possibly be the best dog friendly beach that we have ever been to.

It’s a short walk from the car park to the beach, but long enough to let Ruby get over excited and as per usual drag me all over whilst we were trying to get down there. By the time we got to the beach she was puffing and patting like a crazy dog.

After all the pulling to get down there, its a relief to be able to let her off her lead straight away, and she couldn’t wait. Once free from her lead, she was off sprinting (well running quite fast) down to the sea. You could tell that she was in her element, not a care in the world, all that she wanted to do was get down to the waters edge. But bless her, as soon as she got there, she was greeted by two dogs who were already splashing about down there, and whilst she’s a very social girl, she does get a little bit overwhelmed and intimated if more than one dog comes bounding over to her. I think she realised as well that she’d left us at the top of the beach, so that she was on her own down there, so she went into full submissive mode and was flat on her belly until they left her alone.

The beach really is beautiful, its set in gorgeous surroundings and its just a lovely long stretch of golden sand. There is plenty of room for everyone whether you want to be social and close by to other people and dogs or you can find total seclusion amongst the rocks at the far end of the beach and find your own little stretch, whatever you choose to do you will not be disappointed.

As with all the beaches around here, Freshwater East is perfectly clean and free of rubbish, which is a god send to owners of a greedy Labrador who has a penchant for picking up and eating tissues, cardboard, paper cups and most other rubbish.

A perfect dog friendly beach.
