Ruby’s story……………….
Do you think that they can see me under here? I’m hiding you see because I was trying to help mum out with the laundry and I accidentally ripped up a tea towel. Well, I say accidentally, I pulled it out of the washing machine and decided to have a bit of a play with it and then the next minute it was ripped, and once it was ripped, there was no going back, so I tore it up totally.
I like helping with the laundry. Everyday I check the washing machine to find out if there’s anything in there, and if there is, I pull it out. Well it shouldn’t be left in there anyway it needs to be hung out. Does mum know nothing about housework (I’ve heard dad ask her this on many occasions, so perhaps she doesn’t).
My particular favourite is socks. They fit in my mouth perfectly, and are the right shape for playing pulling games. I can’t resist when I get a sock out, I have to have a game with it, so I take it in to the living room, where mum and dad are sitting and I peek round the door with it in my mouth, to show them that I’ve got it, and then the game begins, once I show them that I’ve got it I dart away and they give chase, and they carry on chasing me until they get it back, but not before I’ve put up a good fight first. They grab one end and I keep the other end in my mouth and we pull and we pull until eventually, I do give in and let them win, I’m nothing if I’m not fair.
So here I am hiding under the table, because mum is about to come in and find the ripped tea towel, I could always blame it on the washing machine……
Mum’s story……………….
So, I’ve just come into the kitchen and found a tea towel ripped up on the floor and Ruby hiding under the table.
It’s so annoying, you can’t put anything in the washing machine waiting to be washed, because she’s got the knack of flicking the door of the washing machine open with her nose and pulling everything out. Even when you think that you’ve closed the door property she still manages to open it, its unbelievable.
We always know when she’s up to something. If we’re sitting in the living room and she’s being quiet in the kitchen. The living room door will open a crack and she’ll poke her head round with a sock in her mouth. We’ve heard lots of horror stories about dogs having to be operated on after eating a sock and getting it wedged somewhere, so we have to get it off her.
The trouble is, as with everything else, she see’s it as a game. She pokes her head round the door to tease us with what she’s got in her mouth, we get up to get it off her, and then off she goes. Charging round the house with the sock, with us in full pursuit. When we do finally get her cornered its then a game of tug of war until we finally get the sock back. She does put up a good fight, but we always win in the end.
Anyway, so here I am in the kitchen minus a tea towel and with Ruby hiding under the table. Not sure why she’s hiding, she knows that she never gets told off……… maybe that’s the root of our problems………
