Ruby’s story……
Do you like my ball ? They bought it for me after they’d taken me to the vets, I think it was as a thank you for keeping my weight down, and not letting them get told off by the vet.
I’ve had balls like this before and I love them, they ‘re my favourites.
I have to keep following mum round with it until she plays with me. I like it best when I have it in my mouth and she tries to pull if off me. I always win.
The trouble is mum gets too bored too easy and after a few minutes of playing she gives up, so I have to keep following her and nudging her to remind her that I want to play. After all we only have a short time because the balls don’t last too long.
Sometimes she’ll take the ball with us when we go for a walk, but, why ?? Balls are not for chasing, they’re for chewing and pulling each other around this. But, she doesn’t learn, she’ll take the ball with us into the field and then she throws it and expects me to bring it back, I ask you, the cheek of the woman, she threw it she can go and get it. No fields are for snuffling about in and finding something to eat not for chasing balls.
Anyway, friends I’ve had the ball for all of two days now and its already on its way out, its not much of a ball anymore, its now just a piece of chewed up blue rubber………… oh well, I’m sure I’ll get another one soon…….
Mum’s story……………
We bought Ruby a new ball a couple of days ago, it was after we’d been to the vet’s maybe because we felt a bit guilty for putting her through her yearly boosters.
She’s had loads of balls like this before, they last for a couple of days and then she destroys them. She loves the balls, as soon as we give them to her she wants to play straightaway, trouble is she wants us to join in too. It doesn’t matter what we’re doing, she follows us round with it in her mouth pestering us to play with her, when we ignore her and try and get on with what we’re doing, she crashes into the back of our legs with it and keeps on pushing and pushing until we give in.
Her favourite game is her having it in her mouth and us trying to pull it off her, it turns into a game of tug of war, with us tugging and her pulling and it always ends up with bitten fingers and chewed hands when she gets a little bit too competitive.
I’ve tried taking the ball with us when we go out in the field for a walk, something to try and distract her from eating everything and anything she comes into contact with, But you’d think that she’s never set eyes on the ball before, once we’re out of the house. We get into the field and I throw the ball, and she stands there with a look of sheer disgust on her face, that says “you threw it mum, you can go and get it”, she has no interest whatsoever….., and she stands there watching me with what I’m sure is a smirk on her face……… she’ll then turn trot off to find something to eat………. oh well, I’ll keep trying, but for now I’d better trot off, I’ve got a ball to retrieve………
