We have visited The Huntsman in Drax on many occasions and you are always sure of a warm welcome from Peter and Pete the landlords.    The Huntsman in Drax is a country pub located in the village of Drax, North Yorkshire.   On first arrival you are met with a quaint looking village pub, car parking is to the rear and is ample.   There is a small pretty seating area to the rear, which has a grassed area to satisfy the pooches.   Dogs are welcome in the front part of pub and there are plenty of tables to accommodate visitors with their four legged friends.   The lovely stone fireplace houses a wood burning stove which is the perfect place for the pooches to stretch out after a long walk on a cold winters afternoon.  We have eaten here on many occasions and the food is always plentiful and deliciously home cooked, you always leave feeling filled to the brim, although if you’re sitting in front of the wood burner, you may not actually want to leave, you could happily have a snooze in one of the lovely wing backed chairs.    Not only do the humans get very well fed at The Huntsman in Drax our four legged friends also get their treats from a treat jar behind the bar, so everyone leaves happy.    The hosts Peter and Pete have their own two dogs so not only do they know how to run a fantastic village pub they also know how to make our pooches feel totally welcome too.     I cannot recommend this little gem enough, and if you do find yourself in the vicinity, there are loads of fabulous local walks, please pay it a visit, you will not be disappointed.
