Ruby’s story………

Hello, may I introduce myself, I’m a 6 and 3/4 year old chocolate Labrador and I live in a village in North Yorkshire with my two humans. I came to live with my new mummy and daddy when I was 10 weeks old and, boy, did I get here in the nick of time, to get them back on the straight and narrow and show them what life is really about.

When I arrived both my parents worked full time and all their spare time was spent eating overpriced food in crowded restaurants, drinking sour tasting wine in pretentious bars and trawling round shops buying clothes they’d never wear. As for holidays, well holidays were something else, they were spent burning themselves red raw laying on a sunbed all day round a noisy swimming pool and drinking horrible coloured cocktails all night – blimey can you think of anything worse !! So now you’ll realise why I say that I got her in the nick of time to sort these two out and now I’m going to tell you how I did it.

Mummy’s story………..

Hello, may I introduce myself , I’m a 40 something, well nearly 50, childless, so called professional. I work, I work very hard, but spare time is spent enjoying ourselves, eating delicious food in lovely restaurants, drinking fine wine in swanky bars, and buying designer clothes from the best shops. As for holidays well holidays were something else, they were spent in 5 star hotels relaxing round a pool on a sunbed all day getting a lovely tan and drinking delicious cocktails on a night – can you think of anything better !!

Life was good, but there was something missing, something that I needed to get up for in a morning. Don’t get me wrong we had a perfect relationship and we were blissfully happy. I’m not saying the biological clock was ticking, hell no, kids weren’t for me, but I did need something to love and nurture.

So that was that, after much deliberation, we got a dog, but not any dog, oh no, not for us, we got a chocolate Labrador, which most people who know anything about dogs will know, is one of the naughtiest, hardest to train, greediest dogs that there is…………. perfect for first time dog owners. So I’m going to tell you why our lives will never be the same again.
